Fossil Memory

My practice is rooted in a fascination with deep time—the vast, silent span of history preserved in the earth. Fossils have always held a strange poetry for me: delicate traces of life, fossilized mid-movement, surviving long after the living body has vanished. They are memory made matter. In my mixed media work, I try to recreate that sense of suspended time and lost worlds.

I construct textured surfaces that evoke sediment, erosion, and organic decay. These materials are not incidental; each one holds metaphorical weight and mimics geological processes. I often work with contrast: hard and soft, broken and whole, fossil and void.

My work is not meant to be a scientific illustration, but rather a visual meditation on transformation, loss, and endurance. I’m interested in how remnants of the past shape the present, and how the marks we leave behind—intentional or accidental—tell our stories long after we’re gone.

Through each piece, I invite the viewer to slow down and look closely—to become an archaeologist of emotion and memory, reading between the layers, discovering not just ancient lifeforms, but echoes of their own.

I am a firm believer in the healing power of creativity. I believe it is a healthful way to process emotions, tell stories, and connect with something greater than myself.
