To create is to bare your soul for the world to see. It’s scary, it’s daunting, it’s vulnerable. But without being willing to fall, how will you know if you can fly? Sometimes, you have to be willing to take a leap of faith.
I’ve been passionate about animals since I was young, trying to befriend every bird, bug, and beast I found. Five years ago, I picked up a camera, eager to capture their individual sparks of personality. I’ve never gone back – from bison to elk, heron to sparrows, and even monitor lizards to gators, I’ve been fortunate to get a small glimpse into our natural world’s inner world.
My hope is that this house finch, with his wings stretched in flight, will inspire you, the onlooker, to take your own leap of faith – to pick up that first paintbrush, draw that first line, or sculpt that first mound of clay. By being willing to be vulnerable and take risks, you may just discover that you are capable of more than you ever dreamed of. You just have to take that first step.
