I am a contemporary artist that works independently to create works that convey messages of emotions, ideas or information. I have a variety of different disciplines, including painting, photography, digital painting, and commercial art. I sell directly to the public, via galleries and publishers. I draw inspiration for my art from nature and to inspire others to invest in their own creative impulses. One of the reasons I create art is because it’s always been hard for me to communicate verbally. A picture is worth a thousand words has always rang true to me because of my difficulties in communicating. My artwork surpasses verbal barriers. I feel it’s a universal means of communicating, and to me it brings life to everything making it a brighter experience. Artists make items for people to bring into their homes to decorate and wear it to create their own style. To be able to create something from my soul and breathe life into it, is what drives me as an artist. I’ve been told by people that my artworks gave them joy and makes them happy to see the beautiful pieces that I have created. My art has inspired others and works by other artists have inspired me. Art is a truly wonderful gift. It’s a joy and privilege to be able to share my artistic gifts with others and l believe through art we can bring everyone together, and communicate.
Art for the journey resonates with me because I have been a part of OMA since the winter season of 2024. I volunteered for the winter session at Glen Allen art center, Chesterfield public library, and Lucy Corr. And I am volunteering for the summer session. My grandmother Winnifred Reid had Alzheimer’s, I had the honor of taking care of her as her CNA. I also worked as a CNA in home hospice care for others with Visiting Angels. I am an artist as well and Art for the Journey gives me the opportunity to combine two of my life’s passions, helping people and art.
