Simeon (Sam) Poulin is a designer, artist, and educator based in Richmond, Virginia. He works primarily with watercolor on paper. He is known for delicate and evocative impressionistic paintings of landscapes and urban scenes.
Sam is compelled to create work that uses texture and light and layered compositions to invoke a sense of memory and place. He enjoys that tactile and analog experience of painting. He enjoys painting en plain air as well as working from his own photos.
He values creating human connections through his art either with his original paintings, commissions, group work, and hosting workshops.
