I don’t really set out to “say” anything, I just start painting and follow whatever shows up. It’s usually messy at first, a lot of pushing things around, covering them up, letting things reappear. I like that moment when something starts to feel alive but also slightly less controlled.
At the same time, I’m always chasing a kind of satisfying structure underneath it all, something that holds, even when things are loose or breaking apart. Balance, tension, rhythm, held together in a way you cant quite explain but can feel.
These painting are build between control and collapse, intention and accident. I don’t know what the painting is while I’m making it, I just know when it starts to feel right.
